Parkview Regional Hospital Hosts Open House September 21
9/15/2011
MEXIA, TX – The public is invited to attend an open house and ribbon cutting for the new front lobby and emergency department lobby on Wednesday, September 21 at 10 am. The ribbon cutting will take place at the main entrance to Parkview Regional Hospital on Bonham Street.
The recent construction project in the main admissions area and the emergency department admissions and triage areas is a $360,000 project, funded by the Parkview Regional Hospital Inc. Board. Plans and interior design were drawn by RBDR Architects in Waco, and the project has been carried out by John Erwin General Contractor, also of Waco.
Changes to the front lobby admissions area entailed a total demolition of the previous layout. A vestibule was added at the front entrance with a set of automatic interior doors. This will help decrease the wind tunnel effect that is often felt down the main corridor of the hospital. The Auxiliary gift shop was relocated to the front of the lobby with display glass on three sides and a greeting station has been added where visitors can stop to ask questions or seek directions. New registration booths ensure both patient comfort and privacy, and allow admissions personnel to see patients as soon as they enter the lobby area. Additionally, the space was designed for maximum efficiency during the registration process, with the end result being reduced wait times for patients. The waiting area also includes new furniture and surroundings to make it a more comfortable experience.
The emergency department changes involved moving the current triage room and registration area. The redesign enables the ER admissions personnel a direct view of those coming into the department, and those in the waiting area. This helps ensure the safety of patients and ensure that those coming in know exactly where to go for registration. Further, the admissions area was enlarged so that in higher volume times, additional staff can be accommodated. The patient waiting area was also remodeled to ensure the comfort of those waiting.
“We appreciate the community’s patience during this project,” stated Kevin Zachary, Parkview CEO. “The temporary relocation of registration was an inconvenience, but ultimately, this project ensures that we can better serve our communities for years to come. We hope that the public joins us at the open house and sees for themselves the exciting changes to our facility.”
