Parkview Regional Hospital Shares its 2023 Community Benefit Report
The report outlines the hospital’s continued impact on the health and well-being of the Mexia area.
MEXIA, Texas (March 11, 2024) – Parkview Regional Hospital today published its community benefit and economic impact report for the 2023 calendar year. This report outlines the many ways the hospital positively contributes to the city of Mexia and surrounding areas in Central Texas, and spotlights how it continues to support the health and well-being of those who live and work in the region.
“It is a privilege and honor to be entrusted with the care of residents of the Mexia area today, as it has been for the 60-plus years our hospital has been in existence,” said Mark Massey, Interim CEO of Parkview Regional Hospital. “We have a remarkable team of providers, employees, partners and volunteers who make a vital difference to the patients we serve and our community as a whole. The accomplishments listed in our community benefit report reflect their hard work, commitment and passion for helping others.”
Parkview Regional’s 2023 community benefit report highlights the hospital’s continued efforts to meet the growing healthcare needs of its communities through welcoming new providers, expanding service lines and continually investing in its facilities and healthcare technology. For example, in 2023, Parkview added four providers in the areas of Family Practice, General Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery, and made more than $300,000 in capital improvements that included purchasing new defibrillators and a new generator.
Additionally, Parkview provided more than $10 million in health services to those in need, demonstrating its continued commitment to ensuring everyone has access to care, regardless of their ability to pay.
Parkview is also devoted to creating environments where providers want to practice and employees want to work. In 2023, the hospital distributed more than $9 million in salaries, wages and benefits for its approximately 120 employees, and contributed more than $30,000 in professional development and tuition assistance so its employees have the opportunity to learn and improve the care they provide their patients.
The report shares several examples of how Parkview Regional is continually seeking ways to make a positive impact in the communities it serves, extending far beyond the physical walls of its facilities. Last year, the organization paid nearly $2 million in provider, payroll, property and sales taxes, displaying its commitment to fiscal responsibility in an effort to boost the area’s economic well-being. The hospital is also honored to have supported local activities and organizations that contribute to the community, including Ducks Unlimited, Laras House Shelter, Limestone County Fair Association, Mexia ISD, Mexia Rotary Club, Navarro College-South, Tehuacana Heritage, Texas Coffee and Wortham ISD, among others.
“Parkview Regional and the Mexia area are truly partners in our community’s health,” added Massey. “We understand how important we are to the community, and how vital the community’s support is to our hospital. We are proud of our contribution to this partnership and excited to share details of our impact over the prior year.”
